Tangier to Merzouga Tour

Begin your 8-day journey from Tangier to the Merzouga Desert and Marrakech, exploring Morocco’s diverse landscapes, rich culture, and historical treasures. This adventure starts in Tangier, a vibrant coastal city known for its rich history and stunning Mediterranean views. From there, you’ll travel to the picturesque blue-washed streets of Chefchaouen, where the breathtaking scenery and laid-back atmosphere invite relaxation and exploration.

Continuing your journey, you’ll visit the ancient Imperial cities of Meknes and Fes, each offering a unique glimpse into Morocco’s rich heritage. In Fes, the medina is a UNESCO World Heritage site, bustling with life and steeped in history. As you wander through its narrow streets, you’ll discover beautiful mosques, traditional artisan workshops, and bustling souks, showcasing the country’s vibrant culture.

Next, the adventure leads you to the captivating Merzouga Desert, where the vast golden dunes stretch endlessly under the sun. Here, you will experience the magic of the Sahara with a memorable camel trek, allowing you to take in the stunning landscapes as you ride across the dunes. As evening falls, you’ll spend the night in a traditional Berber desert camp, where you can immerse yourself in the nomadic lifestyle, enjoy delicious Moroccan cuisine, and gaze at the star-studded sky—a truly unforgettable experience.

Itinerary

Our assistant will meet you in the port and do departure to Chefchaouen passing through Rif Mountains enjoying natural landscape of magic Rifian green mountains till we arrive to Blue- white city of Chefchaouen. Chefchaouen situated in the north , and it was under Spanish troops during the protectorate era; thus, the majority of its inhabitants are influenced by Spanish accent. When we arrive to Chefchaouen we take dinner and spend night there in one of quiet riads.

After breakfast in riad we will proceed our magic trip driving towards Volubilis passing via Small Rifian Villages to join the Roman traces. Once we get into Vulibilis we will be accompany with a local guide to explore and learn about the Roman history in volubilis. After having visited the ruins, we will change direction towards The Ismailian capital “Meknes” where we will take lunch and walk around to discover the historical monuments of Moulay Ismail and see great walls surrounding the old Medina. Furthermore, we will visit the tomb of Moulay Ismail, the old sub jail, Bad Mansour…Our journey will end in the so-called scientific capital of Morocco Fez city where we spend the night .

After breakfast in riad, here we go to start our journey seeing, exploring the secrets and historical, cultural traces, heritage of the city; we will enjoy our sightseeing walking in the narrow streets of the old medina. We will insist on seeing the most important sites such as the Old Qarawyine University, the Jewish place, Royal Palace and the Moulay Idriss mausoleum…. After lunch, you will visit the traditional cooperative and then experience a wonderful panoramic view over the whole Medina of Fes .

After breakfast in your hotel we say goodbye to Fez and aiming to arrive to Merzouga where camels are waiting us for a camel trek over Erg Chebbi dunes. We will leave Fez travelling via Ifran and Azrou. Here we will stop in the cedar forest offering you opportunities to have some last ever pictures of apes in their natural habitat. Subsequently, we go ahead to join Midelt and Errachidia city in which we will have our lunch, and then proceed via the Ziz valley passing through Erfoud and Rissani to finally get into Merzouga. Arrive at Merzouga on the afternoon. Thanks to Berber hospitality we will enjoy a glass of tea with them before we go in our camel trek to spend over night in our desert camp enjoying the calm of dunes and playing some berber music before we go to sleep in our tents .

We will get up early morning to join and enjoy an impressive sunrise over the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Afterwards, we will take our camels back to the hotel to have our breakfast and take shower. After doing so, we will escape from Merzouga heading to Dades valley. Within our way we will see a lot of small villages alongside te way. Once we arrive Todra Gorges we will take a short walk discovering the sceneries of Todra strems and rocks, and then we proceed our journey to finnaly join Dades Valley where we spend our night in riad .

After having breakfast in the hotel, we will drive through Dades Valley heading to Kelaat M’gouna and Ouarzazate. Within our route towards Kelaat M’gouna we will see a lot of Kasbahs which were historically used as the houses of valuable, famous families in the ancient times. After the rose’s valley, we pass through Skoura village, continuing to Ouarzazat “the Hollywood of Africa” where we will visit Cinema Studio. Moreover, we keep going till reaching the famous Ait Benhaddou Kasbah which is the largest Kasbah in Morocco. We take lunch there. After visiting this UNESCO matrimonial historical monument, we continue our trip via the charming pass of Tizi N Tichka (2260 m) over the High Atlas Mountains. During the pass we will enjoy panoramic views of the landscape seeing farmers working in their farms and we will also see them herding their animals. Additionally, we will have chance to visit argan, olive oil cooperatives. Then continue our journey to Marrakech .

After breakfast in riad, we start our journey sightseeing the city of Marrakech “the red city of Morocco”, it was founded in the XII century by Almoravidian dynasty. We will insist on to see the most important cites oh cultural and historical heritage. You will have great chance to visit Saadiyin Tomb, Majorelle Gardens, Koutoubia Tower. Moreover, our guide will lead you to see Bahia square, the Souk of the city, and then you go to join the famous square of the medina where you will see and discover the fascinating serpent’s magician, “funny seminars” where some professional or humorous people tell fabulous and nice jokes, riddles…On the afternoon, you will have free time to walk around and see, discover other places of the city by yourself .

Today depends on your flight, you will be transferred to the airport to attend your flight.
